My day out
Bob

The weekend got off to a rocky start for me, Bob, in as much as that I was reminded yet again not to take my eyes of the Lord and completely trust in him. I set off from home around 13.30pm on the Friday, bike fuelled and loaded, GPS in place and programmed, off I went and the wet stuff came down, less than a mile down the road the battery warning light on the GPS started flashing despite the fact that it was connected to the bike battery.

Quick prayer and on I went, two miles down the road the rain stopped and it was sunny in the distance, the warning light on gps had stopped flashing and all was well, the ride was getting better and I started praising the Lord instead of Praying to him.

Occasionally the gps warning came on then off again, concern started getting the better of my trust in him, 88 miles had passed and the gps was now shutting down and then powering up, extreme concern, location Queensferry A55 need to make a decision carry on or head for mum’s and recharge gps battery, I turned for mum’s and recharged the battery, putting me back by 90 minutes.

Set off from Mum’s all is well rain is threatening but holding off, it’s getting darker by the minute but all is well. 54 miles to go and a flashing on the gps tells me the battery is running low again, I let out some none Christian comments and pushed on, five miles gone and I heard a voice saying “all is well trust in me”, I asked for forgiveness and prayed “Lord I am at the point off no return, do I carry on? Lord if I am meant to be at the leaders weekend then please make the battery last.

After some time the warning light got steadily faster and I grew more anxious, the Snake pass was looming ahead, I had never ridden it before, never mind in the pitch darkness and still the warning light flashed. 11 miles to go and by now the gps warning light was going into overdrive, I stopped at a petrol station asked if it would be possible to charge up my gps, sorry no spare sockets, “try the pub down the road, they are very good there” off I went to the pub pulled up outside the door and the voice again said “all is well, trust in me” with shame in my heart I obeyed and pushed on for my destination.

Five miles to go and there was a strobe warning light on the gps but on I went till at last I heard a different voice in my helmet say “you have reached your destination” thank you Lord was my cry, bike switched off and parked up safe, in need of a comfort break I headed for the entrance door, with gps in my hand, still flashing, I opened the door put one foot on the door mat and the gps went to sleep over worked, the CMA members present wondered why I stood in the doorway head bowed praying for forgiveness, till later when I shared the journey.

Yes indeed I thought, “ I am meant to be hear this weekend I wonder what else it is you have in mind for me to learn dear Lord and Father”, Bike unpacked and journey shared, time for food and time for prayer, Bob I heard “ yes I said “ would you care to sit with us at this table, and share with us again your journey whilst eating your food, “ok and thanks but who are you”, doubting weary travellers, just like you .

We sat and shared and fellowshipped well, then we grew tried as our bellies did swell, time for bed and sleep much needed, all his words we all now heeded.
